Carolyn Shin is a Korean-American artist from Boston, MA. She received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She has worked in various projects that involve design, illustration, and painting.
She is constantly searching and using intuition by dragging paint from one point to another to encapsulate sensuousness. Soft edges and pulling colors to bleed into each other infers the warmth and melting relationship between the subject and the painter. Working with these materials has revealed the complex bond between above/beneath the skin and the physical/psychological. Her artistic process embodies habits as well as her childhood experiences, memories, and dreams. The past is often seen as irretrievable, but art provides a means of rediscovering it.
