Carolyn Shin is a Korean-American artist from Boston, MA. She received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She has worked in various projects that involve design, illustration, and painting.
“Because of the experiences that I’ve had growing up, I developed an unrealistic standard of perfection and a hyper sensitive awareness of myself which makes even the air around me feel thick at times. However, this awareness also allows me to feel the intimacy between myself and the subject as the subject blends into and becomes part of the air around it.
The past is often seen as irretrievable, but art provides a means to rediscover it. My artwork helps keep a record of what I’ve experienced in the physical world and in my dreams in hopes to keep track of the perpetual development of what we call life.”
